(Haematogenous Oxidation Therapy)
Haematogenous Oxidation Therapy (HOT) is a photo biological treatment from Germany and is used to improve blood circulation through more oxygenated blood in the treatment of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) or Occlusive Arterial Disease (OAD), Thrombo angitis Obliterans, Non-healing Ulcer, Diabetes Mellitus, Smoking etc.
HOT will prevent surgical procedures such as amputation of toes, feet or even legs etc. Our Institution is the only one institution offering HOT in India. HOT is done twice weekly for 3 to 5 weeks. After that once monthly for few months. No side effects observed since 1988.
HOT must be done as early as possible, in the 2nd stage of DAD ie. the stage of intermittent claudication (pain of calf muscles during walking for 30 minutes or more). When the foot pulses are not palpable , then start HOT . In later stages of OAD , HOT may not be effective as in the 2nd stage.
